ZESCO limited has given a 30 day amnesty to those with illegal electricity connections to surrender themselves or face arrest and prosecution.
ZESCO limited senior manager corporate affairs Caristo Chitamfya in a statement said the 30 day amnesty comes in recognition of the fact that many customers who were illegally connected would like to normalize their connections so that they can begin to purchase electricity without fear or arrest.
Mr. Chitamfya said an amnesty against prosecution for all customers who will report themselves to ZESCO with a view to normalizing their connections.
“The amnesty will run from the 1st to the 30th of April 2023,” he stated.
He said beginning 1st may door to door inspections will be conducted throughout the country to identify culprits of illegal connections.
