The Zambia Roads and Highway Safety Public Group has welcomed the move by the Minister of Home Affairs Jack Mwiimbu to ban Police road blocks, noting that they were too many placed in wrong places
Speaking in interview with one love radio, ZRHSPG group administrator Mthoniswa Banda says that, roadblock create congestion, hence delaying movements, which at times result into accidents.
“Roadblocks create congestion and Punic, therefore when people are late for their meetings and you delay them for another 10 minutes or so, it means they have to catch up when they leave the roadblock so there is over speeding’’.He said
Mr. Banda has however noted that, the only disadvantage this initiative will come with is that, it will be difficult for the police to know who is driving without a license.
He has advised motorists not to be over excited but to follow all traffic rules as road safety is the driver’s responsibility.
