The Alliance Council of Bishops has called on stakeholders such as the Church to change the messages of prosperity being preached and shift the attention to spreading messages against social ills like the rampant cases of defilement and Gender based violence.
In an exclusive interview with One Love Radio news, Council Spokesperson Bishop Charles Phiri said the Council is deeply concerned about the increased numbers of cases of defilement and gender based violence as well as unexplained deaths in the country.
Bishop Phiri said as a Christian Nation, it is significant to live a life of Christianity and to this effect important that the church preaches messages that rebuke and foster mind-set change and instill good moral values as opposed to preaching prosperity.
We would like to urge Pastors to change their message from the one that we listen to on a daily basis, that’s messages of prosperity, breakthrough, and finance and so on, to teachings of conduct and moral behavior so that we become good examples as the church to the congregants.
He further explained that the church has a mandate to sensitize the members of their church against the dangers of defilement and Gender based violence and the damage it causes to the victims.
