INCARCERATED WOMEN RECEIVE CHRISTMAS GIFTS

By Alex Siyanga.

As Christmas is around the corner, it is a good gesture to remember our mothers and sisters who are incarcerated and do everything under the eyes of the women in uniform.

A place with almost 140 incarcerated women, at the Lusaka Female Correctional Service, has 40 in training and skills school, 20 waiting to write GEC exams for both grade 12 and 9, and a good number of them attending grade 7.

They received a warm gesture of Christmas from Titandizine Comfort Home and One Love Radio, consisting of food gifts, solar-powered radios and Bibles among others, as some wait to be pardoned by the government on 25 December 2024.

Speaking during the event, Chief Executive Officer for Titandizane Comfort Home Akosua Akuffo, said the organization was created to support agricultural facilities formerly for incarcerated women.

She stated that the gesture was aimed at making their day memorable as a lot of them don’t have family members visiting them or bringing food for them.

Meanwhile, One Love Radio representative, Naomi Chisengela Mwanza on behalf of the station manager Station Manager Kaluwa Tembo, donated radio sets and Bibles with a view to ministering the Word of God to the incarcerated mothers and sisters.

She stated that through gifting people the radio sets, the station has enabled the message to go beyond broadcasting and urged the incarcerated women to listen and share the Word of God.

The beneficiaries of the radio sets turned out in numbers to receive the gift, and they were overjoyed at the collaboration between Titandizane Comfort Home and One Love Radio for remembering them during Christmas Season.
