The African Women Fish Processors and Traders Network (AWFISHNET) has called on women in the country to take keen interest in fish processing and trading, as it has the capacity to eradicate poverty at household level.
Speaking in Kafue during a training workshop organized by World Fish Zambia, AWFISHNET Deputy Treasurer Nakamwi Kauseni said women must take advantage of the conducive business environment which government has created in the sector.
Ms. Kauseni added that her organization has partnered with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, World Fish and African Union to ensure that more women are recruited and empowered to have their products exported to countries such as Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
