As the country is navigating through the devastating effects of drought, World Fish Zambia has called on Zambians to take advantage of the nutrition variety the Fisheries sector is offering.
Speaking in Kafue during a training workshop for Pro-fish blue project funded by the African Development Bank, Dr. Netsayi Mugede stated that her organization is Keen to promote value chain in the aquatic food processing sector.
She added that nutrition in fish processing is yet to be realized in communities hence the need to enhance advocacy.
Dr. Mugede further stated that her organization’s core objective in this project is to strengthen availability and accessibility of nutrition aquatic food end products to communities in the SADC region.

And speaking at the same function, Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Chief Economist Mr Ian Habulembe stated that government has created an enabling environment for fish farmers to thrive in the sector.
Mr Habulembe said President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision is too see many Zambian entrepreneurs add value to their products and ensure profitability.
He added that the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will continue to partner with organizations such as World Fish to ensure that fish farmers across the Country were empowered with necessary knowledge to grow the sector.
World Fish-Pro-fish blue project aims to promote sustainable management and use of fisheries resources within the blue economy context in order to improve food and nutritional security.
The training gathered participants from five provinces with the aim of empowering them in fish smoking and processing.
